Hope you had a relaxing weekend. I can’t believe we are a week and a half away from Thanksgiving. Where has the year gone?
This week we have a lot of fun planned! Our class will be creating our second placemat for our community service project and this Friday the students will meet with their Pride families! Just a reminder to complete your Safe Environment Training. As we approach the holiday season there will be many opportunities for involvement in our classroom, including our class party. Please get this completed so you can take part in the K2 fun!! Literacy: This week we add two more sight words to our list: come and me. The children now have ten words that they know. I have added a list of the words to the resource page on this site. This way you can keep up with the order as we add to the list each week!J (Keep up on the word flash cards too!) The children have been breaking words into two or three phonemes. We have been focusing a lot on beginning sounds, but this week we will look at medial sounds with the short /a/. Our literacy theme is seasons and we will read a few texts that tell us about the changes throughout each of the four seasons. In grammar, the students will be introduced to subjects in sentences. Lastly, we will have our Unit 2 test this week. Math: This week the students will be introduced to skip counting: by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We will also continue to practice numbers 1-20. Religion: This week the focus is prayer and we will break down the “Our Father” to better understand how God has taught us to pray. We will visit the chapel for adoration and continue to practice how to pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. the students will be tested mid-week on our last chapter, Sin. Lastly, if you have not registered a special guest or grandparent for the celebration the November 23, please do so. It is sure to be a memorable day. If your child does not have a grandparent to bring they can still take part with the activities and will be my “special guest” at mass! As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Have a great week! Mrs. Zander
