We are back at it and with 15 days to go! Where has the time gone?
As was mentioned in an email last week, the month of May is full of events. Below is a recap of the important dates!
  • Monday, May 13th, at 8-845 is our Mother's day tea. This is a day to celebrate you and your child has been creating some fun pieces to share with you. We'll be having a light snack beverage. The children are looking forward to spending some special time with you.
  • Friday May 17 is Pajama Day and we'll have a surprise guest visitor!! Forms went home yesterday with details. Please return them as so as possible! Details regarding snack will be sent home closer to the event day.
  • Tuesday May 21 is our end of the year celebration at 2-2:40! More details to come.
  • Friday, May 25 is our LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! We will open with Mass at 8:30 and awards ceremony. Dismissal will follow ending about 10am.
  • Safe Environment training is necessary to attend the classroom functions! We look forward to seeing you all!!

Reading - The theme this week is "learning new things". The students will hear the stories Baby Brains and Look at Us! We will learn our last two letter sounds. - /qu/ and /y/ as well as our final six words for the year: take, off, show, day, too, and our. The spelling words for this week will  focus on our letter sounds from this lesson: quit, quiz, yam, yes, you, your. The sentence is: Yes your quiz is now! The class did great with the last test and writing their sentence. As always we'll be practicing these words in class too!  I will checking in with each child over the next few weeks and administering the final DIBLES benchmark assessment. Information regarding your child's results will be sent home before the end of the year! This is an exciting time to see their academic growth!!

Math - We will spend this week "playing with money" through some cent themed centers. We will also practice adding multiple coins to find their total value.

Religion - We will focus on God's creation a bit closer to home, seeing his beauty in our Arizona surroundings. The students will study our state's bird, flower and some other living things prevalent in AZ. This will tie into our Social Studies focus too.

Social Studies -  We will be learning about maps: what they are and how to use them. We hear the story, Me on the Map. We'll think about our own maps from smallest to largest moving from our home, city, state, country, continent, and world!

Have a great week!
