Welcome back!
This week will be another fun week as we celebrate the beginning of fall! Hopefully our temperatures will continue to show encouraging signs of fall too! Literacy: This week our theme is "helping". Our stories are The Little Red Hen and The Handiest Things in the World. There are no new high frequency words this week. Instead, we will be reviewing and practicing them and the kiddos will be tested on the words at the end of the week. Our words are: I, the, and, like. We will review the sound /m/ and introduce /s/. In grammar, the students will continue to identify verbs within sentences. Religion: We will continue our lesson on loving others as God loves us. We will discuss the story of the poor woman who gives all she has, as well as, the and the Good Samaritan. The students wowed me with their knowledge of the 10 Commandments last week and all did very well on their quiz. Math: The students will continue to build skills in counting on and recognizing numbers with our fingers. We will also learn to find same quantities, as well as differences and understand the concept of how many more. We will have an assessment on Friday. Social Studies: With the start of fall arriving this past weekend, we will learn all about apples, Johnny Appleseed, our five senses and the importance of washing our hands to prevent spreading germs. We will even have a fun art project with the apple theme in mind! Don't forget to send your apples to school! Have a great week and as always, feel free to contact me at any time! Mrs. Zander
