So great to see so many of you at the Harvest Festival!
Thank you to all of you who were part of the event in one way or another! You helped make another year's festival a success! A big thank you to our room mom's who put a ton of energy into making sure slots were filled, details accounted for, and so many other behind the scene items taken care of. This week is a fun filled week celebrating Halloween and All Saints! Although we will not be celebrating Halloween with a party, there are many fun things in store for the kiddos. This week in kindergarten.... Literacy: This week's theme is shapes. We will hear two creative stories: "David's Drawing's" and "Mouse Shapes". We will spend the week reviewing the 7 high frequency words we've learned so far; to, the, and, a , see, we, & I. We will also practice and master our letter sounds; m, s, t, a, c, & p. This practice will be great review to lead into our unit assessment next week. This week's centers will be fun, hands-on applications of word blending, adjectives for size and shape, and story recall and writing! Math: We continue to practice with teen numbers as we become aware of patterns in numbers and sequencing. We are still working hard on writing numbers too, making sure numbers are written correctly and with out reversals. Religion: we continue to build our knowledge of the Saints! It's been so fun to see the student's enthusiasm as we focus on one story a day. Last week we learned that each of us can be a saint; with great love of God, a willingness to help others and, prayerful hearts...we all can be a Saint! Science and Social Studies: this week we'll have some fun exploring pumpkins!! Thank you for those of you who signed up to help our class out whether it be with pumpkins and supplies or in class! This will be a fun day to explore, study and get messy with some pumpkin STEM! We'll check out the different sizes and colors, insides and outside! Pictures posted soon! We'll also spend some more time exploring ramps and motion! We'll continue to discuss different types of machines and transportation from the past and present. If your child has completed their October book list, return it to school this week. When they are returned I will attach a coupon for a free personal pan pizza! Keep and eye out for the November homework calendar and new book list that will go home later this week. A reminder next week is the used book fair and Parent-Teacher Conferences. I look forward to meeting with each of you to discuss your child's successes this year as a well as any goals to make the transition to first grade (don't worry, it's still 7 months away) a smooth one!
