Welcome back to another week. It was so great having so many of you join our curriculum Night this past week. For those of you who could not attend I have posted my PowerPoint with some additional notes under the Resource tab. Take a peek and email me with any questions!
Literacy: Each week, for the remainder of the year, the students will learn a new high frequency word or sight word (sometimes more than one). I will post a link with all 86 words that the children will know by the end of the year under the Resource tab. We start this week with the word I. We will be using this word in sentences, finding it in various texts, and will practice writing it too! We will continue to review the alphabet, focusing on letters k, l, m, n, and o. In Grammar we will introduce nouns, more specifically words that name people. Finally we will continue to practice rhyming words and specific sound patterns. We begin our small group centers this week, so it's sure to be a fun-filled time! Religion: This week the children will have their first trip to the Atrium in small groups. As a class we continue to learn about the Creation story and the many things God created. We will continue our class discussion on how we can show our appreciation for all He has created! Math: The children will have their first assessment on numbers 1-5 and we'll continue our foundational skills practicing with numbers 6-10. This week we get to meet our 4th grade Mass buddies and look forward to attending Mass with them after Labor Day! A few reminders... 1. Please submit your Scholastic book order online or to me no later than Tuesday. There will be another chance to order in the Fall. 2. Set up your RenWeb access if you haven't done so already. I have attached a document in case you didn't receive one at curriculum night. See the Resource tab for the directions. 3. Lastly, this is the final week for our class wide snacks. As mentioned at curriculum night, starting the first full week in September students will be responsible for bringing their own snacks each day. Ordering snacks from the school lunch program will still be available on Friday. Thank you again to those who provided snack these past few weeks! Have a great week...the Kinders and I sure will!
