What a special and memorable week we had, last week. Thank you again to all the parents who volunteered at our retreat! The children loved to see you there and you helped make this event go so smoothly. It seemed to be a hit!
This week the kindergartners are leading courtyard prayers (Monday and Friday) and Mass on Wednesday. Yes, we are having Mass this week! Please join us if you are free. A reminder, Friday is pajama day and ....shhh, Mother Goose is coming to visit! This will be a fun way to wrap up our last full week on Kindergarten. And now for our week ahead: Literacy: This week we have our final unit assessment in class. The students will spend one more week working with substituting sounds in words (beginning, medial, and ending). We will review all our sight words we've learned this year with some fun games and we'll have our final week of small group reading centers. Our reading books this week tie in with our social studies unit: Where We Live. We will look at where we live in a variety of different formats. Social Studies: The students will be introduced to a variety of maps and new vocabulary. The students will be learning their address and phone numbers as well as looking at symbols of our country, state, and neighborhood. Religion: The students will continue to work on all the prayers they learned this year and be assessed on them this week. We will talk about how we can continue to act like God wants us to over the summer break. Math: We will prepare and review for our final math assessment. Lessons from our final Math unit include (addition, subtraction, measurements, money/cents.) This week is sure to fly by, but it is packed full with some end of the year kindergarten fun. I hope you all have a great week! Mrs. Zander
