Thank you again to all of you that helped out at our kindergarten retreat. Whether it was behind the scenes or leading a group. It was such a success because of your involvement! We had a lot of fun last week...and some slippery fun too. I'm sure you heard we had earthworms in class! This week we'll wrap up our plant cycle unit in science. The students have been so interested in all aspects of plant growth and have come up with some wonderful questions that prompted many great discussions and further investigation. This week the students will work together to make a mural displaying all that they have learned. We'll make sure to display it outside the classroom once it's complete and i'll email pictures too! Literacy: This week we begin our final unit in literacy after a unit test on Monday. We have 6 new sight words (do, went, just, down, little, only) and will focus on the long and short vowel sound /u/. Our theme is "trying out best" and we'll hear some great stories that demonstrate that; Kitten's First Full Moon and Curious George Makes Pancakes. We will also practice using singular and plural nouns. Our spelling test Friday includes the words: duck, twig, vest, zoo, chip, Bonus: said. And the sentence is: I saw a duck at the zoo. Religion:This week we will hear a few familiar stories from the bible that teach us the importance of trusting in God. We'll hear the stories of David and Goliath and Noah's Ark. Math: We have a fun week of math centers in store to practice our newly learned subtraction skills. We have an assessment this Friday. Also our art walk is around the corner. Here is some information regarding the special day and pieces on display. Dear St. John art enthusiasts, We would like to invite you to attend this year's Art Walk on Friday, May 4th!
