2. This week is our school's toy drive. If you are able to help out, please send an unwrapped toy for students of St. Matthew's Catholic school. You are sure to bring joy to their hearts this holiday season. 3. This week is our Christmas Scholastic Book fair in the library. Students and their families are invited and encouraged to visit the school library between December 12-15 for all the fun. The book fair will be open after school each day until 3:15 and on Friday from 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM and 5PM until the end of the Christmas concert. As for our academics this week... Literacy: Our theme this week is animals and their habitats. We will read some very fun stories: Home For Tiger, Home For Bear and Tiger Splash. This week we focus on the sound /b/ and meet Benny Bear our alphafriend. We also learn two more sight words: are & now. The kiddos are really working hard on their sight words and I know many of you are practicing at home. Keep it up!! Religion: This week we learn about the Holy Family and Jesus' earthly father, Joseph. We will hear a story of Joseph's trust in God and discuss how we can show our trust in God too. Math: This week we will review our numbers 1-100! We will have a math assessment on this lesson this week. We'll begin a new lesson midweek focusing on sequential events and focus on using the vocabulary "first, next and last". It's great to be back! And I hope that we can keep K2 healthy for the next couple of weeks so everyone can enjoy a heathly and happy Christmas break. What a yucky germ season this fall has been. Here's to a smoother and less sniffly 2018!! Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns!
