Week 18

11/30/2018

Happy first week of the Advent season!
Monday morning at courtyard prayer will be our Advent wreath blessing. The students each made an advent wreath and will bring it home after school, Monday. Each week they will "light" a candle as we near Jesus' birthday!

I know that this season can be a very busy time and all our schedules start to become very full. Monday, in your child's red folder will be a list of important upcoming dates for our class and school. Please make sure to look over the packet as it contains your child next project, an animal report! We will be doing a large portion of the animal report in class so there will only be a few smaller parts to complete at home and we've set aside homework time to help with the completion.
As always reach out if you need any clarification or further details!

Here is what we will be working on this week:
Reading: This week's lesson is about Animal Bodies. The students will hear the stories A Zebra's World and What Do You Do With a Tail Like This? Our sound is /f/ and our Alphafriends name is Fifi Fish. Two new sight words are "you" and "what"...we are up to 14 sight words.
Math: We will continue our chapter on numbers to 100 this week and continue practicing various ways to skip count. The students will review concepts through hands on math centers and small group work. They will be assessed on this chapter at the end of the week.
Religion: We will recap on the first week of Advent and prepare for the upcoming second week, this Sunday. The students will hear the story of Mary saying "yes" to God.
Lots of fun this week!!

**A message from our 6th grade:**
This upcoming Friday, December 7, the 6th graders will host a Marketplace!
Our entire 6th grade will be set up in the courtyard on Friday December 7th to sell handcrafted items that will make GREAT Christmas gifts for family and friends. The hours of our marketplace will be from 7:30 to 8:30 and again from 11:30 to 12:30. All items will be in the 1-10 dollarish range so if you’ve been saving up to Christmas shop…this is the place to do it!  The BEST part is that all the money we raise will go to help 25 valley agencies that minister to those who need a hand up…not a hand out.  So please come out and help us to help them and together we can ALL BE the hands and feet of Christ!
Thank you and God Bless!!
I will be taking our kindergarten class to walk and look at the booths. If you would like to send in some money for your child to purchase gifts or an item for themselves, please send money in a ziplock baggie with their name and amount.

Reach out with any questions or concerns.
