This is sure to be an exciting and busy week!! Please remember the Harvest Festival is this upcoming Friday 6pm-9. Thank you to the parents that have helped volunteer and donate items. If you are free to volunteer for a 30 minute time slot please click on the Homeroom News for directions on how to sign up! I hope to see many of you there!
Literacy: This week's word is "a" and sound is /k/. We will learn about adjectives for colors and continue to build our sentences and writing with more descriptive words. Our theme this week is animal movements and we will read various texts that help us to explore this topic more. We will also learn about captions and practice adding captions to some of our drawings this week. Math: We are wrapping up another unit in Math. We will spend a few days reviewing many concepts including: fewer/greater, big/small, short/tall, equal, numbers 1-20 recognition, 1-20 writing, and 10 frames. Our test will be on Thursday and Friday of this week. Again, we will review all of these in class, however if there are areas that you've noticed your child struggling with on IXL, feel free to redo those sections to help them have additional practice. Religion: We will continue to learn about a few more saints this week. The students are creating a book to take home and share these beautiful stories with you. They have really been grasping how to be "little saints" in their own community and its wonderful to see some of these actions take place here at school! If you haven't already signed up for a saint please do so ASAP. We will also continue to learn about Adoration and prepare for our upcoming visit to the Chapel. A reminder about our All Saint's day Celebration which will be on Wednesday Nov. 2 at 8:15am. Please have your child arrive to school dressed in their saint costume with their uniform underneath. After drop off you can congregate in the courtyard. We will process out as a class. Your child will be saying their saint's name in the microphone as we sing the Litany of the Saints. we will continue to practice this at school. Also, your child's saint report is to be turned in this same day. Each child will present their saint report in class later that day. The report was sent home attached to a yellow description sheet a few weeks back. Let me know if you need a replacement copy. Lastly, this week will be covering fire safety and Friday we will have a special visit from some firefighters who will give a presentation about fire safety. Have a great rest of your weekend! Mrs. Z
