I hope that everyone had a restful weekend! I know we all needed it following our first full week of school. The students seem to be transitioning into our school routine quite well and it is fun to see friendships blossoming so early in the year!
A reminder that tomorrow, Monday, Aug. 20 is Picture Day! Please send the picture form (sent home last week) with your child. There will be extra forms in the office if you need them. This Wednesday Aug. 22 is curriculum night at 6-7 pm. There will be two 20min sessions for your convenience. Hope to see you a ll there! On the resources page are a few updates for students and families...morning running club, after school enrichment classes, and a school community frozen yogurt fund raiser. See the resource page for more details. Literacy: We continue our transition into the school year with a few more nursery rhymes. The kindergartners were introduced to our literacy centers this past week and thoroughly enjoyed them. This week we continue with literacy centers and review rhyming words, syllables, and letters in a variety of fun and hands on activities to build their skills. We wrapped up our color words last week but will continue to practice spelling them and recognizing them in texts. The children will be bringing their color book home to share with you too! Religion: This week the children will be reminded that God created each one of them. We will discuss our individual uniqueness and the special characteristics they each possess. We'll make a special art piece and it will be on display for you at curriculum night! Math: We will dive into math centers this week refreshing our memory on numbers 1-5. We will practice counting, writing, sorting our numbers with fun counters and manipulatives. Social Studies: We'll build our understanding of the vocabulary words: safety, rules, & laws and discuss how following laws/rules keeps us safe. We will expand our knowledge of rules and laws and look at them in relation to our government and the constitution.
